Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar recently completed a significant visit to Dhaka, marking a potential turning point in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations.
During his stay, Dar met with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, along with other senior leaders. The key focus of the trip was on reviving the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), enhancing bilateral ties, and promoting people-to-people and youth linkages between the two nations.
Both sides agreed on the importance of boosting trade, strengthening connectivity, and deepening regional cooperation. Analysts view this visit as the beginning of a new era in ties after years of strained relations.
As part of the engagements, Pakistan and Bangladesh signed several agreements, including pacts on trade facilitation, cultural exchange, and youth collaboration. These agreements highlight the shared intention of both countries to foster long-term cooperation across multiple sectors.
In addition to official talks, Ishaq Dar also met BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, expressing good wishes for her and recalling her historic 2006 visit to Pakistan.
The Foreign Office of Pakistan hailed the trip as a milestone, emphasizing that it not only helped build mutual trust but also opened the door for deeper engagement in economic, cultural, and youth development initiatives.
With renewed momentum, the visit is being seen as an important step toward regional stability and collaboration in South Asia.
